Sexy and Strong.
Dangerous and mysterious.
Cool and confident.
Femme Fatale.
That's the manifesto for Britney's new album Femme Fatale released on March 4th 2011. The concept of the Femme Fatale around which Britney is creating the last album and tour of her career is a really interesting and powerful one in my opinion. The idea of the femme fatale, a charming and empowered woman which is an angel and a devil at the same time, a prey and a predator, a saint and a sinner, can be very inspiring and can be interpreted and manipulated in different ways leading to many positive outcomes. I like the way the femme fatale concepts recalls in my mind images of medieval women, the ones that inspired and were described by several Italian poets of the 13th century such as Dante and Petrarca. But the image of the femme fatale is also perfect to describe all the women in history that were powerful, influential, charming, brave, sensual and mysterious. And Britney and her management did the right choice to choose such a rich and deep concept to explore and on which build the whole album and the entire tour story. Britney in my opinion embodies the perfect example of a femme fatale and this concepts perfectly suits her. She's proved that she can be innocent and destructive at the same time. She can be so close to her fans all over the world by entering in their dreams and be so far and unreachable at the same time by using her management as a filter between her and the rest of the world. She's at the same time a good heroine and an evil one that fights against herself and her own darkest side. You never know which Britney you are looking at. She's simultaneously so tragic and so angelic and that's her magic and what makes her so special and unique. You never know whether she's truly genuine or completely manipulated by her management; whether she's a real human being or a robot, whether she's really happy or so desperate to be at the edge of a mental breakdown. That's what makes her so mysterious. Britney is the perfect femme fatale. She's such a sweet and poisoned bitch fighting for her freedom, taking revenge from men in her life (e.g. see the Stronger, Toxic and Womanizer video) and from paparazzi (see the Everytime, Piece of Me, I wanna Go videos) and so crazy and desperate to be at point of committing a suicide. She's a real icon. A woman that can be admired and loved or for which one could feel sorrow. She's so sexy and strong, dangerous and mysterious, cool and confident. She's a Femme Fatale.
P.S. My favourite three song of her new album right now are:
1) hold it against me (truly innovative)
2) I wanna go (so fresh, a perfect hit for the summer)
3) he about to lose me (it's so hypnotic and precious! I love it)
